Opera Unlimited’s main vision is to touch the children of New Mexico with live opera performances composed especially for young audiences. Our organization has developed an opera outreach program which introduces children to this art form while providing a creative outlet to local performers. Opera Unlimited continues to enjoy success and accolades for its varied programs.
We are a non-profit organization which contracts professional musicians and uses simple costumes and portable sets for our productions. We have been told that our productions enhance young people’s appreciation of the fine arts, social studies and language arts. They introduce and increase students’ awareness and appreciation of the art of opera, as well.
For productions we require a presentation space―cafeteria, gymnasium or auditorium. We provide teachers guides which include story synopses, vocabulary, and activities aligned with state language arts and social studies standards to help teachers prepare their students for the performances.
It is our desire to share our program with all children in New Mexico and we work around the clock pursuing grants to fund both our program fees and travel expenses. We realize that many performing arts programs are being eliminated due to tight school budgets and we hope to help facilitate coming to your school, library, or community center.
For more information or to schedule a performance please contact our Outreach Performance Coordinator Warren Wilgus at (505) 219-1998 or operaunlimitednm@gmail.com.
We have most recently been offering two operas:
Jack and the Beanstalk and Aesop's Fables.
